HURRICANE CHARLIE

Hurricane Charlie has made a mess in Florida. We are talking of at least 21 people left dead and extensive damages. Not exciting. It should not hit that strongly over here, but nevertheless ... So, we got all that could be needed for survival without civilization at one local supermarket, organized all our stuff so it can withstand strong winds entering the house in case the windows get broken.

Preparing for the hurricane: the living room on the left is set to go ...

... and on the right too!

Occasional use of the living room as a dining room because ...

The only table in the house is used for work!

My studio is now ready to withstand the fury of the elements

We spend the day glued to the TV screen. In Florida it was a disaster

I use special care in protecting my favorite horns, so I choose for my tenor Conn 10M 1940 and my tenor Selmer Mark VI THE SAFEST SPOT in the house (they made it up to here, there is going to be no disaster separating us now!) and we spend the rest of the day in front of the TV looking at the news. Coverage of the hurricane is continuous for all day, but in the end, once it gets in the area it is no more that a little more rain (did I already say that it rains a lot around here? That's why plants grow so happily. Ernie is saying hi).

So in the end nothing really happens. I am a little deceived, all this worry and organization for nothing! But it is way better like this. So it is time to start unpacking and living a civilized life, up to now it has been like camping, but without all the advantages, the food we have experienced so far is awful, no reasonable bread, parmesan cheese (where is Costco?) bad bad, no cooking for now, no coffee (I have 4 coffee machines, but where?). A neighbor brings us some brownies, we are really well treated, but ... no carbonara! Can't even cry, will just add up to the humidity. But seriously, things are getting better, we have a house, it is nice, clean, well done, big, nothing happened with the hurricane, saxophones are in great shape too ... Life starts anew! Ernie's waving its leaves for you folks!

More commentaries soon, for now I am being a little busy ...
